Cup Design Concept

Quick Concept Sketch

Is Silicone a Plastic?

IS SILICONE A PLASTIC? Good question. Here are some others... Is it a rubber? Is it natural? Is it synthetic? What the heck is it? And most importantly: Is it safe? But, if you define plastics widely, as we do, silicone is something of a  hybrid between a synthetic rubber and a synthetic plastic polymer . Silicone can be used to make malleable rubber-like items, hard resins, and spreadable fluids. We treat silicone as a plastic like any other, given that it has many plastic-like properties:  flexibility, malleability, clarity, temperature resistance, water resistance. Like plastic, it can be shaped or formed and softened or hardened into practically anything. But it is a unique plastic because it is much more temperature resistant and durable than most plastics and has a low reactivity with chemicals. And while water resistant, it is also ...

Week 2 business model drafting

Business Model Draft Value Propositions: There is a negative impact on the environment from the use of plastic/paper cups (disposable). Reuseable cups can be a nuisance to carry around. Need: A reusable travel mug that is compact and can vary in size for easy transport. We are building a reusable, collapsible travel mug for the busy beverage drinkers, customers who enjoy or just need a hot drink on the run but want something easier to transport. What’s important to these customers - convienience - ease - no hassel - reusing a mug.  (figure out exact archetype through primary and secondary research...

Week 2 meeting 27/07/17

Shared results: The coffee drinking demographic is pretty broad and hard to gage. We have put out a survey to gain a better understanding of who we are marketing too. There are existing collapsing cups out there but from what we can find they aren't physically available in NZ, just online. Two of the 'most successful ones were crowd funded. (Stojo, zip cup and compresso seem to be the most successful). They don't have a great web presence though, the compresso doesn't even have a website. Xmugs (camping and tramping utensils) are most compact-able and lightweight but are not commonly used for the everyday user/ takeaway cup market. Discussed; to be manufactured later, try to find people to wholesale to. mocked up website/working website. Most existing keep cups seem to be made from silicon. Maybe try partner with an existing brand, not buy it cause its better but buy me cause i am an alternative to what you may already want. How are we different? We also wen...
